Top teams have lost or tied their opening matches, our back line restored, and our midfield sans Gini is looking creative and solid…so, is it any wonder there’s a building excitement among Liverpool fans worldwide? And no where is that more evident than right here among our Toronto Reds!
MATCHDAY – WEEK 2
LIVERPOOL 2 – BURNLEY 0
THE LEAD UP
The lead up to the second match of the season was filled with the usual mishmash of excitement (that football is back!), trepidation over Robbo’s injury, and anxiety over transfer window activity (or lack thereof)!
Closer to home, OLSC Toronto and our new home pub struggled with the logistics around 7:30 AM matches and post-COVID staffing issues. We have to apologize for the mixed messages shared on social media regarding the pub opening, how to make reservations, etc. In the end, what we found was that:
- The OLSC Toronto team are working hard behind the scenes to make sure every moment of being a LFC supporter in the GTA is the best experience in North America
- Our partners at The Madison Ave Pub are here to support us and making every effort to work with us.
Unfortunately, food/coffee wasn’t available this match (read below) BUT the game went on and a good number showed up with thanks to The Maddy’s manager! We’ve been assured that a “footy breakfast” is being planned and will be available for future early morning matches. NOM NOM
Buoyed by the 100+ fans who took advantage of our online membership system in week one, we continued to push our renewed commitment to the fan experience forward.

The Madison’s manager did not disappoint. Despite lack of staffing, he showed up a few hours before his shift to open the doors and TV screens so that those who ventured out of bed early, were able to enjoy the match together. Thanks, Steve!
Our volunteer team showed up with coffee and treats from Tim’s for those who set their alarms. Bonus donuts were served to those who showed up in their Liverpool FC PJs.
Undeterred by the early start time, we ran our 2nd Half-Time Member Draw. This week’s winner is OLSC Toronto member Spencer Goodwin! Spencer wins the new official OLFC Toronto scarf.
REMEMBER: All members are automatically enrolled in every Half-Time Member Draw, which occurs during Premier League Matches. But you can’t win if you’re not a member! JOIN ONLINE TODAY.
Those who didn’t want to hit the pub so early in the AM showed up for the online banter on our Facebook page, chatting transfers, key players, and MOTM. Check out some of the conversations below.
We anticipate another 200+ crowd at The Madison Ave Pub for the match against Chelsea on Aug 28th, 2021. Be sure to reserve a table today!
UP THE REDS!!
